Nine Hours of Sleep

We arrived in St. Croix around 5 PM local time.  I began the day at 6 AM, and three flights later, I had gone from 20 degrees of cold to 80 degrees of humid warmth.  My salon straightened hair is beginning to  curl up a little….it’s easy to deal with, though.  I simply put an elastic in my hair, traded my regular glasses for my sunglasses, and put more sunscreen on my face.

The resort is a 20 minute cab ride from the airport.  The resort is remote…..and their are both rocky beaches and sandy beaches within view.  We walked around, had a couple of drinks (rum punch)…split a burger…and headed to bed.  I slept for more than 9 hours last night.  I was fast asleep by 9 PM….and rolled out of bed around 6:15 this morning.  There is a two-hour time difference here.

I could hear the waves and smell the ocean.  It rained on and off during the night.  On the occasions that I awoke….I was able to be lulled back to sleep within moments.  Something that doesn’t  happen on a regular basis.  Usually, when I wake….I am up for the day….or struggle.

This morning, we decided to catch up on email briefly….and since I am on vacation, I want to do what I love….and part of that is writing.  We are going to do a tour of the island, including the rum factory.  Tonight is a big buffet with live music and entertainment….all native.  I did bring my camera…..

It’s a no make-up, pigtail kind of day.  In a beautiful setting of sun and sand and breezes from the ocean.

I haven’t had a pig-tail day in months.
