Southern Sights
by dsmouse ~ February 15th, 2008. Filed under: Just.....Me, Just...Traveling.Quiet….but my camera has been out….. I won’t bore you with all the photos of my travels, but just a couple of favorites…. I have been blessed with beautiful weather when I’ve been out and about. 70’s when I was in New Orleans. My favorite photo of Jackson Square - and St. Louis Cathedral.

And when I was in Richmond, VA - and Colonial Williamsburg - last weekend, the weather was in the upper 60’s. Just beautiful.

It’s odd that I spend the bulk of my time though wearing sweaters, feeling bitter winds so strong that my eyes sting and water, and hoping not to slip on the ice…. Yet looking at the photos I snap, skies are blue and the sun shined on my face.
I was talking about the want to be somewhere for a couple of days and not have a lot of work - but the thing is, it isn’t that I want to be home, though I am also missing some time at home. I am just feeling like I haven’t had a chance to recharge, and the respite for my spirits I was hoping for last weekend was too short - and didn’t quite meet my expectations. My own head gets in the way when I am trying to sleep, I guess, and I think too much. I am also a little too tenderhearted.
I am missing DC in a big way. I was there monthly - and sometimes twice a month - for more than a year. I am missing the sight of the Washington Monument and the voices of people from so many nationalities. And I am also missing how I felt like my soul was at home. I think I need to escape there for a day or so as soon as I can find a spot in my schedule.
