taking courage by the horns

by dsmouse ~ January 6th, 2008. Filed under: Just.....Me, Just....Focusing, Just...Boys.

It’s Sunday, and when I’m home, I spend a part of Sunday mornings doing things that have to be done….like my invoicing. But of course, I’m on email, too…..

There is this guy that I’ve emailed with on and off over the past couple of months (mostly off) Today, he asked me what I was doing - and I said WORKING…but I had the windows up so that I could enjoy the breeze.

So he said, why don’t you get a real breeze…take a break…and go to Starbucks with me on my bike?

I said yes.

I think even a month ago, I would have said no….and thought about it….and been mad at myself for turning it down…A few months ago, I would be regretting my response, right? (like I regretted not getting that guy’s contact info back in May). I still wouldn’t have said yes.

But here I am….an hour after returning home….my hair is still all windblown and crazy….and I still have a smile on my face.

When we walked into Starbucks, after our short ride there, he took one look at me…smiled…and said “you have a bit of adventure in you, don’t you?” I laughed and said….oh yes….life is just too short.

We got coffee, chatted about work, life, kids, politics….then took a brief ride home.

I think that looking at my guiding words this year….especially courage, is going to help me this year. It’s already helped me make a new friend…

And my bonus is I got to feel the wind in my hair….going 50 on the back of a Harley.

One of my “things to do in life” is to ride a motorcycle with someone. Happy to hear that you were able to take off an enjoy the day.
Hugs to you for all the TLC with my things going on.
