tales of the day….

I just watched the (downloaded) finale for the mini-season of Dirt! It was good, but overall, was anti-climactic. I guess I was expecting a bit of a cliffhanger like last year…..but, to be honest, it was more on the sweet side.

I got an email tonight from the youngest kid. The title of the email was “Painstakingly copied word for word.” and was the text of a party invitation for next weekend that she forgot to bring. I love that it was Painstakingly copied. What could be better than that? Right? however, the phone number was wrong. When I called it…it was the Tax Office - not Jenna’s mom.

Yesterday, I went to the driving range and got my very first golf lesson. It’s harder than I remember, but when it gets down to it, the last time I was swinging a golf club was when I was in my early teens….back before I had quite so much boobage. I dressed like I was working out….I wore a regular bra, a Champion DoubleDry Tank, then a t-shirt on top of that.

I love that Buddy Boy is the one there giving me my first couple of lessons - because everytime I actually hit the ball and it went near the first flag on the driving range, he was like “awesome” or “good job”. I told him….it’s obvious that he coaches his kids’ sports teams :D He did that the other night when we were shooting pool. The other thing? When I had a really AWESOME swing ( a couple of them actuall!) , and all of my undergarments around said boobage got all twisted up….well, I could adjust things without worry - cause he has seen everything ages ago - and I can be my dorky self. I feel so blessed that an ex-boyfriend has been able to remain / be one of my closest friends.

Today was the day to walk at the park. I picked up Miss O at 7:30 this morning and we went to the park with all the trails….and everything is all measured and marked. We walked 1 1/2 miles. Then to breakfast, where I had oatmeal (instead of cheerios).

I also talked on the phone to an old from my high school days who is going to head to the Middle East for a work project for a couple of months. He thanked me for the “pep talk”…. it was odd, we haven’t talked in more than twenty years, and a couple of weeks ago we connected through Facebook….and have been communicating regularly since.

Speaking of Cheerios. Did you know that to “lower your cholesterol” you are supposed to eat two 1 1/2 cup servings? That’s 3 cups of cheerios per day. Do you realize how much that really is?? And the oatmeal thing? well, that’s 1 1/2 cups cooked oatmeal, which, again, is a lot. But I am persevering on…..and so when it comes to bedtime snacks, I will have a bowl of cheerios.

Speaking of cholesterol, I find it ironic that I have to take four triple strength Omega-3 capsules, and the pills are….huge…and only one teeny tiny 81mg aspirin. Shouldn’t it be the other way around?

And I have the entire Sex in the City on DVD….but how is it when I am flipping channels that I sometimes come across an episode I don’t remember seeing? Do we watch the favorite episodes or scenes in favorite shows or movies and miss some of the other parts?

Writing is slow. painstaking ;) I have one piece I need (want) to finish tomorrow. I also need to get my nails done. And I am also going to a book signing / lecture tomorrow night.

I am going to have my evening bowl of cheerios, even though I had enough oatmeal for the day, it will give me a head start on tomorrows intake of oat related items. Then then…I am going to bed.

I have two talents: One, I am unchallenged in my ability to tell whether someone is wearing or has undergone some sort of hair replacement; Two, I can hit a golf ball.

Good luck on the golfing front. As a lifelong student of the game, if I can be of any assistance, let me know. My wife has been talking about getting out on the golf course; she, however, asks that I not assist her.
